Brand New Airbnb

One of the absolute perks of my job? Getting invited to photograph brand new Airbnbs. This time it was Ohau (pronounced O-How) — perched right on the Manning River in Taree on the Mid North Coast of NSW. Styled beautifully, and yes, the cedar barrel hot tub was so magic I’m seriously considering getting one!

A series of minimalist photos showing white rumpled bedding with magazines and a small cookie on a plate.

Beautiful linen bedding.

Did Somebody say Barrel Hot Tub!

Upstairs you’ve got the open living, dining, and kitchen areas with sweeping river views. Step outside and boom — a massive deck with lounges, a sauna (yep that’s right – SAUNA), AND a barrel hot tub already heated and waiting. We pretty much ditched our bags and cannonballed in. Once you’re in, good luck leaving — you’ll need snacks, hydration, and possibly a rescue team.

Modern cedar sauna installation on wooden deck with towel rack and woven basket, featuring glass door and lakefront view.

Sitting in the sauna you look out to the river (see reflection in door)

Black rain shower head mounted on light wood wall sprays water streams in six consecutive progression shots.

Outdoor cold shower to really get the nervous system ticking.

Sunrise, Sunsets & Quackers Company

We were back in the hot tub at sunrise. Birds were in full song, the sun was rising over the river, and mist hovered above the water — pure magic. Trust me, don’t miss it. There’s even a duck family that hangs out on the jetty. You can fish from it or launch your own canoe if you fancy giving hubby and the kids a mission while you stay… you guessed it… in the hot tub!

A wood-paneled hot tub overlooks a serene lake surrounded by trees at sunset with dramatic cloudy skies.

I wish in a photo you could hear the sounds of nature!

Sleep, Soak, Repeat

Two generous bedrooms upstairs, both basically with their own bathrooms. The main has an ensuite with a rain shower. The second bedroom is right beside the main bathroom that has a gorgeous freestanding bath — which I didn’t even touch (despite staged photos of candle and book I've never read beside the tub - but you get the vibe...), I was too busy pruning up in the outside hot tub. Clearly, two nights minimum is required. One night is just hot tub foreplay (and no there was no raunchy business I was with my husband).

Contemporary bathroom vanity with wooden countertop, round mirror, and soft candlelight creates a serene spa-like atmosphere.

Main bathroom has an amazing tub.

Minimalist bedroom interior with wooden furniture, beige bedding, and ceiling fan in natural lighting.

Second bedroom is beside the main bathroom (each room has their own bathroom).

Kitchen Envy Is Real

The kitchen is both highly functional and gorgeous — no surprise since the owners also run Flow Kitchens in Taree. Even those who don’t like cooking (weirdos) will enjoy cooking in this kitchen with its sweeping river views.

A modern dining room with white walls features natural wood tables and woven rattan pendant lights hanging above.

The chef of the family is going to love this kitchen!

Referral Love

This shoot came via a recommendation from Leasa & Chris Harris, owners of the stunning Omina Retreat. I photographed their gorgeous boutique accomodation last year (read all about it here), and this time I had the joy of photographing their family’s new Airbnb. I've joked that I need to put them on the payroll as this is my 3rd (or maybe 4th actually) new client that they have referred to me but seriously I'm absolutely honoured when past clients recommend me especially to their family. Thank you guys I appreciate your support of my little one woman business!

Why I love Photographing Boutique Accomodation

Shoots like this are my kind of heaven — travel, adventure, and photography all rolled into one. I photograph airbnb properties all up and down the Mid North Coast (and beyond if you’re covering fuel) in a way that makes people want to be there, get a little envious, stop scrolling, and imagine themselves staying. No cold, soulless real estate shots here — sure, I have a wide-angle lens for those sweeping views, but it’s the little details I love that truly make a property shine.
