Welcome to The Shutter Sisterhood
The Shutter Sisterhood or 'The Hood' as we like to call it (sounds more gangster) is a supportive, inspiring community for women photographers at every stage of their creative journey based in Port Macquarie on the Mid North Coast. Whether you’re just picking up your brand new camera, dusting the cobwebs off your old girl, simply shooting on a phone or own a photography business. 'The Hood' has from phone photographers right through to professional photographers. If you love photography you are in the right place!
The Shutter Sisterhood is about:
- Confidence behind the camera – Grow your photography skills in a safe, judgment-free environment
- Connection – Meet other women and make new friends
- Support – Ask questions, share tips, and celebrate your progress
Fun & Inspiration – From virtual chats to real-life meetups, this is a space to be brave and playful with your creativity. No photo is a bad photo here. Every member is encouraged to share their work, ask questions, and learn at their own pace. We are all on our own creative journeys. 18 years ago I was the girl at the camera shop with no clue what to buy (it's a minefield out there alone!!!). I was brave and brought one anyway which I'll be forever grateful for taking that crazy unknown leap of faith. I had no idea how to turn a dial on that camera and still today I learn something new about photography all the time. Before the night kicked off at our Cocktails + Camera night held at Rocksalt at the Marina in Port Macquarie
We have a profile on Instagram called The Shutter Sisterhood @theshuttersisterhood. The instagram page is public so everyone can see the Shutter Sisterhoods Instagram which is why I've also set up a private Facebook group which will be easier to share images and we will be protected from trolls.
