Photographed by Kristen Shaw Photography | Boutique Property Photographer | Port Macquarie, Crescent Head + Mid North Coast NSW
I've photographed enough Airbnbs and holiday homes over the years to notice a pattern. The ones guests rave about aren't always the biggest, the fanciest or the most expensive. They're the ones where every little detail has been thoughtfully considered.
As a boutique property photographer and interior photographer working across Port Macquarie, Crescent Head and the Mid North Coast NSW, I see these details differently. I notice the styling choices, the practical luxuries and the little touches that quietly tell guests, "We've thought of you."
Havana on Pacific in Crescent Head is one of those places. It's a perfect example of how thoughtful styling, exceptional guest experience and professional Airbnb photography come together to create a holiday home people genuinely remember.
Sunshine in House Form
Every now and then an Airbnb comes along that makes you immediately want to cancel your plans, switch your phone onto Do Not Disturb and casually announce, "Oh yes...we escaped to Crescent Head for the weekend."
That's Havana!
The vibe? Think sunshine in house form. Yellow accents weave their way throughout the home, creating a cohesive look that instantly feels warm, relaxed and unmistakably holiday. It isn't loud. It's clever. Those little pops of colour create a visual identity that makes the home instantly recognisable and memorable long after you've checked out.
Holiday Accommodation in Crescent Head Doesn't Get Much Better
Some places claim to be walking distance to everything. Havana actually is!
Park the car.
Unpack.
Forget it exists.
Walk to the beach.
Walk into town.
Walk for coffee.
Walk for sundowners + meat raffles (a winning combo). Roll home.
Walk because you accidentally ate half the bakery...which, let's be honest, is highly likely because Barnett's Bakery in Crescent Head is the bomb!
When you're looking for holiday accommodation in Crescent Head, location matters just as much as the house itself. Havana absolutely nails both.
Eating Your Way Around Crescent Head
One of my favourite things about Crescent Head is that it's not trying to be fancy. It's effortlessly cool. Some of my favourite places to eat all sit within easy walking distance from Havana on Pacific, which is exactly what makes this holiday accommodation in Crescent Head so special.
Grab your morning coffee at Cheetah Five before wandering down to Point Break Café for breakfast. Treat yourself to lunch (or dinner) and cocktails at The Sea Sea Hotel, or settle in for a cosy evening at Mezzaluna. And of course, there's always the Crescent Head Country Club if you're chasing a relaxed meal overlooking the golf course, followed by a sundowner at the Crescent Head Tavern, affectionately known by the locals as The Tav.
Honestly, one of the best things about staying at Havana in Crescent Head is not having to think too hard. Park the car, unpack once, and spend the rest of your holiday wandering between the beach, cafés, restaurants and your beautiful bright home away from home.
What Makes a Successful Airbnb?
After photographing holiday rentals across the Mid North Coast, I've realised the best ones almost always have the same things in common.
They have personality.
They prioritise guest experience.
They include practical luxuries people actually use.
And they make guests feel welcome from the moment they arrive.
Havana does all of that beautifully.
Claire Has Thought Of Absolutely Everything
...and Kev has gone along with it.
One of the owners, Claire, has a background in marketing and art direction and wow...it shows. While the house already had a beautiful foundation when they purchased it, Claire and Kev have spent time thoughtfully refining the spaces both inside and out, adding personal touches and investing in the little details that elevate the guest experience.
From the quality coffee machine, SodaStream and NutriBullet to children's books and toys, layered linens and carefully considered styling, everything has a purpose. As a boutique property photographer, I notice these things immediately. Great holiday homes don't happen by accident. They happen because someone has put enormous thought into how people will feel the moment they walk through the front door.
Claire absolutely understands the brief.
...and Kev has wisely learnt that sometimes it's easier to just nod and say, "Yes dear."
Images that already have you daydreaming about relaxing by the fire.
I Think I've Found My Soul Sister
One of the unexpected bonuses of photographing Havana was meeting Claire. Within about ten minutes we were carrying on like we'd known each other for years. Then Kev arrived home. Claire and I proudly announced we were trying to work out which one of us was more pedantic.
Kev sighed.
Went quiet.
Looked slightly concerned.
Then simply said...
"This isn't a good conversation to walk into."
Poor bloke.
I'm fairly sure he was thinking nobody could possibly be as ridiculously detail-oriented as Claire. Kev...I think I've found my soul sister! There was a lot of detail spotting, a lot of "just move that three millimetres to the left" energy and an unhealthy level of excitement over styling decisions.
But that's exactly why Havana feels so special.
People who care deeply about the little things create spaces people remember.
Just a smecken to the left Claire...
Meet Roxy: Crescent Head's Most Difficult Model
Now let's discuss the real star of my property photography shoot. ROXY. The owners gorgeous dog. And by gorgeous I mean delightfully...well-fed. Let's just say she isn't starving herself for the runway. She's also living up to every stereotype about difficult models. One minute she's posing. The next she's bolting across the yard at speeds that simply shouldn't be physically possible for a dog built like a potato.
Honestly, I have questions.
Thankfully, Havana on Pacific is dog-friendly, so your own four-legged family members are welcome too.
What a beauty, totally model vibes Roxy!
Is Professional Airbnb Photography Worth It?
I'm often asked whether professional Airbnb photography is worth the investment.
You bet it is!
But not because it makes rooms look prettier or bigger. Traditional real estate photography and boutique holiday accommodation photography have two completely different jobs. Real estate photography is designed to sell a house. Boutique accommodation photography is designed to sell the experience.
As an Airbnb photographer, I'm not trying to make rooms look enormous with super-wide lenses and every light switched on. I'm capturing atmosphere, natural light and the feeling of waking up there. Because guests aren't booking a bedroom. They're booking slow mornings with coffee. Afternoons reading in the sunshine. Walks to the beach. Family memories. That's why storytelling matters so much in holiday accommodation photography. People don't remember room dimensions. They remember how a place made them feel.
I photograph feelings not rooms.
Shutter Sisters...Who's Keen?
This place is giving serious Shutter Sisterhood weekend-away energy. Imagine it. Morning beach walks. Coffee runs. Photography adventures. Long lunches. Sunsets. Questionable amounts of snacks. If I can convince three or four ladies...I reckon a Crescent Head photography escape might just have to happen.
Who's in?
Waking up to days like these with no care in the world.
Looking for an Airbnb Photographer on the Mid North Coast?
Whether you own an Airbnb in Crescent Head, a coastal holiday home in Port Macquarie or boutique accommodation anywhere across the Mid North Coast NSW, professional boutique property photography helps guests connect with your property before they've even packed a bag.
Because I don't simply photograph rooms. I photograph the feeling people are hoping to book. And that's exactly what Havana on Pacific does so beautifully.
